Chief Thoughts

Chief Thoughts is how the "Chief" of Bad Thoughts Publishing Company, Jonathan Sheppard, works out his reaction to current events and his own untoward thoughts about societal issues. In a world flooded with information, Bad Thoughts' Chief  parses through it all to help those that feel overwhelmed, anxious, or even hopeless while attempting to keep his own sanity. Chief Thoughts tries to make sense of the complexities of the modern world. We are sorry if it becomes more confusing.

Each output discusses an array of issues from current news stories and events, philosophy, history, art, literature, popular culture, and will also explore the rational and also the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings each might focus might stir. We normalize these reactions while offering tools to process them constructively. From moments of frustration and helplessness to a desire for introspection and forethought, Chief uses reflective conversation, psychological perspectives, and highlights actionable ways to maintain a cynical worldview while balancing a necessary optimism about the future.

About Bad Thoughts' Chief

JONATHAN SHEPPARD

Jonathan, Tyree Sheppard is an American poet, painter, and author who has published five works; Someone Sinister (2013), Bad Stories (2014), Universe Unraveling (2016), The Night I Died and Other Poems (2018), and his first novel The Dorner Protocol (2021) under his own proprietary moniker Bad Thoughts Publishing Company. He was born in the year 1985 in the beautiful but deteriorating hell hole of Seattle, Washington. He grew up in a home with his mother and three brothers but his childhood was heavily influenced by his grandparents. Many of his youthful days were spent in church with his grandma or on the bus with his grandpa.

He moved to Los Angeles in 2007, similarly to most LA transplants, to pursue a career in film. After he was disillusioned by the politics of the film industry, he abandoned his film goals and enrolled at Los Angeles City College to pursue a degree in English Literature. LACC is where he met his wife and mother of his three children. He has a Bachelor Degree in English from the University of California's Los Angeles campus and a Master Degree in Management in Library and Information Science from the University of Southern California.

He is a proud American Populist that lives in a state that is doing all it can to demean, destroy, then usurp all American values. The Bill of Rights is his backbone that is why he named his company as he did. When speech is inevitably snatched from our jaws he takes solace that he will always be free to have Bad Thoughts.

Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site.

"

I created this company not only as a platform for my own awkward thoughts but because I believe in free thought that projects as free speech. What is happening in today's society is that there is a concerted effort to program, to indoctrinate by force, all minds and all thoughts to operate on one accord. We must all be tethered to a hive mind, connected to an entity that tells us exactly what to think and those thoughts must inform all of our decisions and actions. That is why there must be censorship because thoughts cannot stray from the hive. We must deny critical thinking and deny that our own thought processes our own minds are as unique as our DNA. I created this company not only as a moniker to publish my art but also to be a beacon of, and platform for, free thinking.
